Erin is married to her husband, Chris, and together they are raising their three children. Erin lives education every day since her children span all levels. She has one who attends elementary school, another in middle school, and her oldest in high school. She spends most of her time in schools, whether substituting, being a homeroom mom, volunteering for the PTA, organizing teacher appreciation events, or being on call when help is needed in the classroom. Erin sees the successes happening in education and recognizes the areas for improvement, which fuels her passion to serve on the Utah State Board of Education.
Erin, a native of Delaware, pursued her athletic scholarship at Villanova University, where she played Division 1 volleyball. She has a degree in Communications, with a minor in Sociology. In 2004, she relocated to Utah, where she fell in love with the state and her husband.
Erin understands that many people want a seat at the table when it comes to education. While she may serve on the Board, she acknowledges that the seat truly belongs to those who live and work in District 7. These individuals include parents, teachers, and other educators who want to be heard. They have valid concerns, questions, and even solutions that could improve academics statewide. Erin believes that the children of Utah deserve the classic education that older generations were so fortunate to receive. She understands that many educators who make important decisions affecting the classroom often have a distant, bird’s-eye view of matters than those that mean the most. It is crucial to be in the trenches, and that is where you will find her.
